Clanranald Holidays
Things We Like To Do In Grantown
We are a very active family with children ranging from ages 1 to 16 years old. We find that Grantown-on-Spey has something for all of us and we are sure that you will find that also.
Here are a few of the things we like to do/visit when we come to Clanranald. You can access other interesting things to do via the Visit Scotland website, www.grantownonline.co.uk or www.grantown.co.uk and via the very many other websites available.
Anagach Woods
With walks mapped out through this historic Scots Pine woodland you will find wildlife plentiful. The woods are filled with Roe Deer and Capercaillie. Badenoch and Strathspey is one of the last strongholds of the Red Squirrel. We particularly love taking the bicycles through the very many trails they have, varying in length and difficulty.
River Spey
Salmon Fishing on the river Spey has been popular for many years. The Spey is one of Scotland's foremost Salmon rivers, with the Grantown Association having rights to seven miles of the Spey and twelve miles of the river Dulnain you will be able to find a a stretch of water to suite your style. You can buy a fishing license on the High Street.
Grantown Museum & Heritage Trust
The Museum tells the story of Grantown-on-Spey, a fine example of an 18th century planned town. The founding of the town is well documented and the history of the people and buildings are brought to life in the exhibitions with both modern and traditional displays and by an audio visual presentation. Great for young and old alike.

Shops on the High Street
The High Street is a 2 minute walk away and very central for everything. Newsagents, post office, Co-op, Beale and Piper, estate agents, petrol station, clothes shops, hairdressers, Walkers cake shop a must!) , hardware shop – great for a browse as it has everything.
Restaurants
Indian takeaway, Chinese takeaway, chip shop, PJ's, hotels and pubs all within a 5 minute walking distance.
The Heather Centre
Fantastic place to take the young and old. We love it. There is a terrific outdoor centre - all the plants and Heathers around Clanranald come from there. We love the restaurant, second hand antique shop and outdoor play area for the children.

Aviemore
This is a 15/20 minute drive away. There is a wealth of activities to do here - especially skiing in the winter. Go to www.visitaviemore.com for a good range of things to do. We especially love the reindeer visits, the restaurants and the outdoor adventures available in the area. You can kayak down the Spey and do white water rafting. You can take the gondola up the Cairgorms even in the Summer.
